Join Dame Debra as she unfolds her deli and catering empire to you.With over 25 years of international catering experience serving unforgettable food and libations to clients of rock star* stature she provides it all: from grab-and-go breakfasts, workplace lunches and casual picnics to bespoke concerts and weddings in Chicago parks. Her team offers an alternative, fresh, vibrant and local cuisine at her four stores and countless off-site events.

You will be rolling up your sleeves over an intense three days. Learn about all facets of the business by cycling through many of the front and back of house stations at a variety of her locations. Marketing and sales experiences will also be included. Key staff will make time for questions, answers and final thoughts. Dame Debra is a dedicated mentor; you will be in good hands.

Then the winner will make a move north up the magnificent Lake Michigan shore to nearby Evanston to celebrate all things yeast. You will be staying at the landmark home of Dame Julie Chernoff, current President of the Chicago Chapter and Dining Editor for Make It Better Media.

Spend a day with award-winning artisanal baker Dame Ellen King of Hewn Bakery learning her secrets to the perfect hand-forged loaf and gorgeous baked goods. The next day will be spent with Claudia Jendron, brew master of the very hip and in much-in-demand Temperance Beer.

Take an artisanal food tour of Evanston (the Brooklyn of Chicago!), culminating with a meal at Found Kitchen & Social House with owner Dame Amy Morton and chef Dame Nicole Pederson.

This will be a very special chance for a culinary professional who wants to expand her purview of what the industry has to offer in alternative career options. The timing of the internship is to be mutually agreed upon. Good Luck!
